A beautifully crafted Futunan sailing outrigger canoe from Vanuatu. The traditional design and building skills remain unparalleled to this day. This exceptional Futunan outrigger canoe showcases years of refinement in its intricate details. The carved hull, slender planks, outrigger beams and lashings are all designed according to traditional Futunan principles. The sail weaving is exceptionally fine and well-crafted. Nakali Lishi, a skilled Futunan master builder from Tanna, built "Tavaka" as one of three canoes presented to the Maritime Museum.
