Vanguard Scope Adapter

Vanguard Scope Adapter

thingiverse

I have a Vanguard Endeavor spotting scope that I decided would be great to attach a camera to. Vanguard offers an adapter for this purpose, but I chose to create one myself. The camera I selected is the original Sony RX100, which already features a Lensmate filter adapter that accepts 49mm filters. This adapter screws onto the threads on the scope and allows any device that uses 49mm filters to be attached. Other thread sizes could be adapted to fit this standard or remixed for different dimensions. After using this setup, I realized it was significantly over-engineered and much stronger and heavier than necessary. The original version, V1, was later refined into V2, which is a more streamlined and lighter design that still provides ample strength for its intended use - at least with the RX100 camera. If I were to attach a DSLR, however, it may require an even sturdier adapter.
