Vanagon Rear Hatch Prop
thingiverse
This thing holds your VW Vanagon rear hatch open. EDIT: This is an older revision and it has a blip at the very top. I'd recommend flipping the model upside down before printing. *WARNING*: use at your own risk. I would recommend using ABS or maybe PETG. I am currently testing with PETG and everything seems fine. *When in doubt use two*. This might be obvious but don't try to slam down the hatch when this is installed - get in a habit of checking to see if they are installed before closing your hatch. If your rear hatch won't stay open (especially in the cold) then you should buy new hatch struts and replace them. Your local auto parts store probably has them and it's a 30 min job to replace. However, some of you have shenanigans (Gary Lee hatch racks, bike racks, spare tires, etc). on your hatch, then you need one of these to place over the strut to lock it. *You will need to size/scale this to your needs*. I personally have the Lift Depot HD struts - so this was modeled perfectly to fit those struts. If you want to print this, I recommend measuring your strut and scale/modify the model as necessary. On my Gary Lee rack I have a spare wheel, gas carrier with 2.5 gallons of gas, and recovery boards. When it is hot outside, I don't need to use this piece. However, during the colder times I do need to use it.
