Van de Graaff Discharge Wand Kit Construct your own Discharge Wand/Target for use with Van de Graaff generators and small Tesla Coils using this comprehensive kit. The print includes a joint to seamlessly connect a metal sphere to an insulated rod of your preference, along with a matching stand that can also serve as a stationary target for Van de Graaff generators and Tesla Coils. Unique toroid shapes have been added to give them a distinct appearance. For my build, I utilized a 195mm steel "gazing globe" from Amazon, soldered to a 14 gauge grounding wire with silicone insulation. The joint provides ample space to conceal the soldering joint and connect to a plastic 16mm tube (the ground wire does not have to run through the tube if you choose not to). This setup easily fits in the stand, which features a groove to accommodate the ground wire. The joint boasts an inward slope that allows it to accommodate various sizes of spheres and has sufficient space for the connection to the grounding wire inside if desired. It is designed to connect to an insulated rod with a diameter around 16mm but can be scaled as needed. The stand can also be scaled accordingly.
