Vampires vs Villagers - A Halloween Board game
thingiverse
Update 2 (7/11/18): Uploaded some Zombie variations, and have tweaked the rules again for better balance: namely the Vampire Lord only needs to destroy the Village to win, and have buffed the Zombie's attack a little. ____ Update (3/11/18): Have changed the Hunter's croft model to fit better into the scale of the game, as well as uploaded a revised rule book with a few edits for clarity. ____ Darkness falls over the land as the Vampire Lord tries to crush the villagers once and for all. You must pick a side in the coming conflict. Will you come to the aid of the villagers in their hour of need, or instead align yourself with the undying King and help him wipe out all those who foolishly try to oppose him? Welcome to Vampires and Villagers! A 3D printed board game for two people, specially designed for those with small build plate printers. A simple and quick to learn game of strategy offering short game sessions but fairly deep tactical options once you get into it. It's got a day/night cycle, board customisation for each side before each game, and a fun set of units with asymetric strengths and weaknesses to encourage different styles of play dependant on which side you choose. And Zombies... afterall where would Halloween be without them! All the rules are included in a PDF in the download. I quickly put this game together as something original and fun for our Halloween party. All the characters are done in the truly wonderful DesktopHero3D, and everything else was done in 3D Builder (a sort of MS Paint for 3D modelling). I have zero 3D design skills but I'm pleased with how it all turned out. It's a great reminder that you really don't need much to start making things. I'm still tweaking the balance of the units as well as adding variations of the models so that each one is unique (afterall, why have duplicates when you have a 3D printer). Check back in a few days and I should have uploaded the new models and a prettier set PDF for the rules. I just wanted to upload before Halloween in case anyone else fancied playing. Printing and painting was mostly done for speed rather than quality, but due to their size I would recommend printing the miniatures at a lower speed and layer height than the board and buildings (I did 0.12mm for minis, and 0.2mm for everything else). Miniatures will need to be printed with supports, and it wouldn't hurt with the buildings either.
