Vampire Bat Right Forelimb
sketchfab
The forelimb skeleton of a common vampire bat is preserved in fluid as part of the collection at the Florida Museum of Natural History. This detailed model was created by Karina Riddell using specialized software called Volumegraphics VGStudioMax 3.3, which interprets CT scans produced by high-tech equipment like the Phoenix V|Tome|X S. The model serves to enhance a hands-on learning activity designed for students during the UF Center for Precollegiate Education and Training workshop "3D Vertebrates: From Museum Shelves to Classrooms." Funding for scanning and modeling this specimen came from the oVert project at the University of Florida, which is supported by NSF grant DBI 1701714 (https://tinyurl.com/oVertwiki).
