I built a valve spring compressor adapter for installing valves on a John Deere LX188 that uses parts from a Kawasaki FD501V. The valve spring cap has an outer diameter of 0.865", and I chose an inner diameter of 0.700" for easy installation of valve spring retainers.\r\n\r\nThis design might not fit every situation, but it should give you the inspiration to create your own adapter that suits your needs.
