Valve Index Headphone o-ring
thingiverse
I discovered that inserting an O-ring between the earpiece connection and HMD is necessary to prevent drooping during active play. Unfortunately, my initial O-ring was quite loose, causing it to constantly drop out of place. A Reddit post on "Simple Mod Ordering Part Required to Fix Drooping" caught my attention and inspired me to try printing with TPU instead of purchasing an O-ring pack. The default thickness is 0.2mm, but I found that scaling in Z to fit the headset might be necessary. I suggest making a set of five different thicknesses (0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.9, 1) for optimal results. I settled on a 0.6mm thickness, which provides stiff rotation but is still usable and rock-solid during fast VR movements. It's essential to use TPU for this fix, as hard plastic might cause damage. The Valve Index uses a Torx T6 screw to secure each earpiece in place.
