Valve Index: Gun Stock Grip

This is a custom grip for Index controllers. You can attach it to any base block you prefer, as I did with my own stock (which I designed). The link to my design is here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2825084. The controllers fit snugly into the grip and lock in place. They slide in and out smoothly, but require a gentle twist to remove them. You can see how they work by watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMuar0BpRqM. Feel free to experiment with different print settings. I used 2mm wall thickness and top/bottom thickness, along with 75% infill at a triangle pattern. You might be able to get away with minimal or no infill at all. To ensure a precise fit, you'll need to do some light work with a Dremel tool. It's not the most enjoyable part of the process, but it's necessary for a snug fit. After printing, push the controller in and out to find where it gets stuck (usually at the bottom arc). Then, start lightly removing material until it fits perfectly. Increasing the print size to 105% will reduce the amount of Dremel work required. You may need to heat the upper part of the grip until it softens, then place the controller inside and squeeze it gently to reform it slightly. Mirror this design for the other hand as well. Lastly, when attaching the strap on the controller, I recommend pulling one side tight while leaving a small loop on the inside of the controller. This prevents the cord from getting in the way of inserting the controller into the grip.
