Valve Index cooling faceplate
thingiverse
After two weeks of VR use, I'm amazed at how long I managed to survive without proper airflow. I strongly recommend incorporating a similar feature into the Index as an essential upgrade. The current design sucks air through the nose region across your face, which surprisingly doesn't dry out your eyes but carries some risk depending on the airflow pattern. Since installing this modification, I've been able to play VR DCS: World for 6-8 hour sessions without any issues. A custom-made faceplate allows you to mount two Noctua NF-A4x10 5v fans to draw hot air out of the Index.
