Valve Index Controller grip extension, smooth inside
thingiverse
So it turns out my large hands make the Valve Index controllers uncomfortable or unusable to me. The lower buttons and touchpad are impossible to reach with my thumb. Luckily, Valve made available the files for a grip extension, which they should have included as a molded part in the box from the start. Unfortunately, the inside of these extensions is designed like a honeycomb, making them difficult to 3D print properly. I've seen other smoothed grips on Thingiverse, but they were all slightly too rough for my liking. Here's my version - not perfectly smooth, but you won't be able to see any bumps on the printed part. With these extensions in place, I can reach all the buttons without discomfort and even extended gaming sessions don't result in cramped hands. The included .stl file only includes the right-hand side; simply mirror it in your slicing software for the left side.
