I've been pondering the idea of creating a smart robot lawnmower for quite some time now. This 'robot' should possess decision-making capabilities based on its environment and conditions. The existing models are lacking in intelligence, which makes this project appealing to me. Desired features include: 1) no perimeter wire; 2) various driving styles (diagonal cut, pattern cut, etc.); 3) 3D mapping for precise garden navigation; 4) real-time location tracking within the garden; 5) automatic blade adjustment if it encounters heavy obstacles; and 6) a camera to recognize grass types and colors. Consequently, I have drafted these hardware specifications for my build: Jetson TX2 Development Kit, Scanse Sweep, Intel® RealSense™ Camera ZR300, 2x DC Planetary Geared Motors, 2x Vapex Li-Po Battery, SparkFun 9DoF, RoboClaw 2x45A STEmlid Reach - RTK GNSS modules. Model adjustments occur frequently on my end and the project is Work-In-Progress. Kindly expect some errors or bugs. Constructive feedback is welcome, and you can track the progress on my blog at http://valify.se.
