Valentines Day Heart with Moving Arrow
thingiverse
This is an exciting, fun and small print specially for Valentine's Day. The design features a tiny (approximately 32mm x 32mm at standard scale) heart with a freely moving arrow running through its center. The arrow can slide back and forth approximately 6mm. The sliding movement of the arrow makes this a unique and novel print that's sure to be appreciated by someone special... Two versions have been provided as .stl files. One has a hole running through the top so you can thread a string or chain through it. The other is a Key Fob version. Do not scale down as the arrow / heart clearances will reduce and the arrow will fuse and not slide as intended. With a good slicing app and printed on a well-set-up machine with good bridging capability, the arrow will free and slide with only light pressure post-printing (a light lubricant will also help with movement). IMPORTANT NOTE: This print requires significant 'Bridging' that may be challenging for some machines and slicing apps. On a well-set-up PLA machine with an effective filament fan, the arrow should free by pushing it against a hard surface with light pressure. A small amount of silicone spray or other lubricant will help it slide smoothly. This has been test printed multiple times on several machines with no issues. Please refer to the print settings and images for additional information... and post images of your prints for others to see. Print Settings Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator+ Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: Standard / 0.20mm Infill: PLA / 2 Shells / 20% or more infill (to ensure the arrow is strong) Notes: Easy prints... recommend using slightly more infill than standard to ensure the arrow is strong and won't break easily. This will challenge the bridging capability of some software apps and machines. On a well-set-up machine with a well-sliced file, only light pressure should be necessary to free the arrow from the heart post-printing. To make the arrow slide really freely apply a light lubricant to the sliding surfaces. Silicone spray works really well but a couple of drops of cooking oil will have a similar result to make the otherwise dry surfaces slide independently. Post-Printing Easy prints when well-sliced and printed (in PLA) on an accurate, well-set-up precise machine with good bridging capability. A filament fan is necessary for a great result with a freely moving arrow. This will challenge the bridging capability of some software apps and machines. To make the arrow slide really freely apply a light lubricant to the sliding surfaces.
