The clamp was engineered to secure a KP1-4 10-500pF 10kV variable vacuum capacitor in place, using the 22mm diameter ends of the copper tube from the loop. The capacitor's contacts measure 60mm in diameter. Cut-outs in the clamps are 24 and 62mm in diameter due to a 1mm thick strap of copper plate running around both the capacitor contact and the copper tube, connecting them.
