Vacuum powered turbine, 608 bearings, NO MACHINING. Gas (air) Turbine
thingiverse
Kudos to RichMac, they used an 8 mm threaded rod shaft that's scaled up by 1.5 for a perfect fit with 608 bearings (although still a little loose). The dimensions are 2.75" long by 2.7" in diameter. This powerful rotor was reworked to fit 8 mm nuts into the rotors. It requires one piece of 8 mm threaded rod, two 608 bearings, and six 8 mm nuts, with no need for any machined parts. Assemble it and attach it to a shop vac but beware - this little monster spins up extremely fast and could potentially grenade in your hand. Remember to wear eye protection and stay safe from flying debris. They tested it under full shopvac vacuum in ABS 3" Sch 40 pipe, and it held together well. Check out the tests here: http://youtu.be/zYztfiSIDPg and http://youtu.be/cuFDzIHzins. The front and side housings drawings are available, but the rear housing drawing is still needed from RichMac. They've also reverse engineered the back housing and posted the files. However, slicing the design was challenging due to a known Slic3r bug and issues with KissSlicer causing blobs on walls. Despite using 100% fill for optimal strength, they haven't been able to destroy it yet.
