This is an experimental design concept that has NOT been validated or endorsed by any medical authority. This face shield incorporates a vacuum-formed PET visor with 3-dimensional curvature to maximize facial coverage. PET is a widely available transparent, impact-resistant material that can be easily molded. PET is also a hygienic material commonly used in drinks bottles. The buckles on this design can be printed using a standard FDM 3D printer without requiring support material. Alternatively, they can be cast in a two-piece mold. The harness features a 25mm-wide polypropylene strap and a matching 25mm-wide hook-and-loop strap for adjustable fitment. Version 1.1 of the design has simplified the buckle assembly to three individual components. These parts can still be FDM 3D printed without support, although if injection molding is used, the main buckle piece will require a three-part mold. This update also reduces the number of holes in the PET visor. The harness remains unchanged. If you choose to create this design, please share a photo and your thoughts on its functionality!
