Vacuum Bag Roll Dispenser
thingiverse
I buy rolls of vacuum bag material in bulk. This project holds an 8-inch wide roll, making it easy to measure and cut lengths for making vacuum bags with my FoodSaver. This holder makes it simple to mark the bag length with a felt pen and cut with scissors, but it's not that hard to cleanly cut along the "cut" line with a razor blade. I plan to install a sliding razor-blade unit from an empty plastic wrap box, but haven't acquired one yet. My Afinia printer has a small 5.5 x 5.5 inch build plate, so I had to print the main body in two sections: left and right. The center joint aligns easily and has plenty of surface area for an adhesive. I prefer welding and friction welded mine along some of the seams. This roll of plastic is exactly 8 inches wide, with a little extra space allowed. If there's too much slop between the frame and the roll's ends, print a couple of spacers. On my small build plate, the ruler needed to be turned 45 degrees Z and laid kitty-corner. Each side took two hours to print and used 50g ABS, with 0.30mm layers, medium fill, and a raft. The rest of the parts - two axles, the ruler, its pin, and a couple of spacers - took 90 minutes and 33 grams. If your software isn't inch-friendly and imports tiny parts, use the provided Metric files.
