Vacuum attachment for 65mm CNC spindle.
thingiverse
I designed this first 3D print entirely myself, drawing inspiration from csatti's brilliant vacuum attachment concept. My spindle's different diameter meant I had to start from scratch, taking the essence of his idea and applying it to my specific needs. Since my spindle's cooling fins sit just below the main body, with a larger diameter than the body itself, regular friction wasn't enough to hold this part in place – I opted for two solid bolts instead. Now that I'm more comfortable using this 3D printer, I'm shifting focus towards designing the next version, one that incorporates ball joints, giving the vacuum attachment an impressive range of motion around the end mill. This should allow it to handle delicate tasks with increased precision. Design Details: Fusion 360 (Mac) served as my trusted design tool, while ABS filament was chosen for this print due to its strength and durability – I knew this model would demand reliability. The printer itself is a capable Lulzbot Taz 5, proven time and again to produce outstanding prints under various conditions. Printed with finesse, this 3D print embodies my dedication to crafting parts that genuinely contribute to smooth operations in the workshop.
