Vacuum Adapter Reduces 100mm Hose to Household Size To connect a large vacuum hose to a standard household vacuum, a specialized adapter is required. I needed an adapter that could convert my 4-inch (100mm) hose to the smaller size used by home vacuums, which measures 1.43 inches (36.5mm). This adapter fits perfectly around the outside of the larger hose and slots snugly into place on the inside of the vacuum. This design can be easily modified to accommodate different sizes of hoses and vacuums.
