Vacuum Adapter for X-Carve

Update! (3/17/2016) I've finally finished printing my dust covers for the Y & Z stuff, and I'm excited to share that I've managed to mill out a window. The window measures 71mmx71mm with a 20mmx20mm hole in its center, and it snaps right into place without needing any glue. Update! (3/10/2016) I discovered the original creator on Inventables and wanted to give credit to FrancisMarasigan's design here. I'm grateful for the innovative concept that sparked this project! You can find the original post at https://discuss.inventables.com/t/fixed-dust-extractor/11119. I also came across Nightram's model files on youmagine, which are available here: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/xcarve-fixed-dust-collector. Thank you to everyone involved! I was inspired by a design for a vacuum adapter that someone created to help reduce dust buildup with their x-carve. Unfortunately, they never released the STL file, so I decided to create my own version. It's a two-part design because it wouldn't fit on my print bed in one piece. The adapter is designed to accommodate up to 3/4-inch plywood, which should be sufficient for my current projects. This is the first iteration of the design, and it's currently printing. I'll upload photos once it's installed and functioning properly. I printed this at a resolution of 0.3mm with a temperature of 205 degrees (PLA) and an infill density of 30%. So far, it seems to be holding up well. I've also created a new adapter for my hose to connect with my cheap Sears shopvac, which has a 35mm ID at the shopvac end and a 39mm OD for the hose.
With this file you will be able to print Vacuum Adapter for X-Carve with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Vacuum Adapter for X-Carve.
