Vacuum Adapter for X-Carve
thingiverse
Update! (3/17/2016) Finished crafting custom dust covers for my Y and Z projects, finally managed to machine out a window. It measures 71mmx71mm in size, featuring a 20mmx20mm hole at its center. The design snaps into place perfectly, eliminating the need for adhesives. I came across someone who had printed a vacuum adapter for their X-carve to reduce dust accumulation and was impressed by the concept. Although they didn't release the STL file, I liked the idea so much that I decided to create my own version. The adapter consists of two parts, as it wouldn't fit on my print bed in a single go. It's designed to accommodate up to 3/4-inch plywood, which is likely the thickest material I'll be cutting for a while. I discovered the original creator on Inventables and wanted to share FrancisMarasigan's design here, offering my sincere appreciation for their original concept! I'll also add the dimensions for the window (1/4-inch acrylic) shortly. I printed this using 0.3mm / 205-degree settings with PLA material and 30% infill. The results seem to be holding up well so far. Additionally, I created a new adapter for my hose to connect it securely to my affordable Sears shopvac (35mm ID at the shopvac / 39mm OD for the hose). Print Settings: Printer Brand: Printrbot Printer Model: Printrbot Plus Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.3mm Infill: 30% Notes: I actually printed the one in the picture on my old Printrbot Jr, but I'll be printing a nicer version using the Printrbot Plus soon.
