VA Index Finger Control Attachment

A concept has been developed to aid disabled veterans in operating lawn equipment like hedge trimmers, weed eaters, and leaf blowers. It involves using a strap or belt that combines the thumb and middle/ring/pinky fingers into a loop for gripping the shaft. The index finger can then squeeze the trigger via an attached cable. This device, still in concept stage, features a cable attaching to the index finger's palm recess and allows free rotation of the middle/ring/pinky assembly. The thumb uses a universal joint, but may be simplified later for ease of use. This innovative tool will enable disabled veterans to enjoy outdoor activities again and experience the fresh scent of cut grass.
