The V9 1.75mm Hotend/Extruder from Mendel-Parts.com is reliable, but has some downsides. Its brass drive gear can become dull when filaments run out or snap, and filament change is time-consuming and may require disassembling screws. An upgrade to the MK7 Drive Gear rectifies these issues; it's made of stainless steel, has a better grip on the filament, and simplifies filament change. Modifications are necessary to fit the MK7 Drive Gear on the V9 Extruder, but instructions and optional parts like extruder_corner_small.stl and driverholder_enhanced.stl can guide you through the process. Optional additions include a filament guide for printing with 1.75mm ABS and an extruder wheel for easier filament change. Your feedback is welcome.
