V8 model: Replicator edition
thingiverse
This motor boasts a hemi design and delivers impressive performance. Chugging along with each piston stroke, it creates a powerful VROOOM sound. The 225mm long body is specifically designed to fit the HBP of a Replicator precisely. The pistons measure 43mm in diameter, similar to a 50cc chainsaw motor, and connect securely with printed cylinders instead of filament. To ensure optimal performance, the moving parts have tight tolerances of .25+/-mm, requiring a well-tuned machine. Smaller pistons are also included for versatility. The motor's design features thinner walls, radius edges, and relief details to minimize plastic usage and print time. All STL files are cleanly sliced for easy printing. Printing recommendations include using an extra shell or two with 20% infill for the body and pistons, while the crank and connectors should have a higher infill of 60-100%. Start by assembling the pistons, connectors, and crank spacers as shown in provided images. Then, attach them to the printed body sections and glue them together. Insert the end axles into the crank, and the motor should function properly. Reinforcement fins can be added for extra stability, followed by installing the crank handle. The total print time is approximately 66 hours and 45 minutes, resulting in an impressive, high-performance motor.
