I used this simplified model of a V2 rocket to demonstrate the principle of "design for manufacture" to my students - the original design had fitted the fins separately to the tail section, but a secure fit wasn't easily possible at first. Modifying the tail section to incorporate the fins meant a more complex design up front, but ultimately gave a much better finished product in the end.
