V2: Filament Guide for 2020 2040 3030 Extrusion
cults3d
Update 2018-01-04: I have added single channel, low height versions of this guide. This will reduce feed resistance for printers where the filament guide exit point does not need to be elevated. This is version 2 of my snap fit filament guide designed primarily for direct drive based extruders (like the Titan Aero) mounted on common aluminum extrusion form factors. What's New In the original version, rapid forward feeding with a nearly empty spool could cause the spool to hop forward -- off the spool holder. This design feeds from the bottom and a high speed forward travel move will now result in a downward force (onto the spool holder) instead of forward. The back wall of the 2040 version has been thickened to reduce flex over the 40mm length. This design is extremely resistant to back pressure / back feeding of the filament. There are now two filament channels. The first one directs pressure downward when filament is feeding and the second keeps the filament above the carriage, cable chain, etc. The height has been decreased to avoid the filament making contact with the spool as it moves between the two filament channels. The snap-on spool holder shown in the pictures is available here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2537713 Please share your makes!
