V2 - 22mm One Way Flow Restriction Valve for Multiple Patient Lung Ventilation
prusaprinters

With these designs, I'm assuming the ventilation flow with the valves in place is sufficient and not too restricted.

Rev 2 goes way from the single object print and the valve floats a little better in the chamber resulting in a better seal (at least from my tests here)

I've included a adapter to allow you to put the check valve in either direction on the splitter.

I've kept the original design here in case you find it works better for you.

Rev 2 INSERT is designed to be fitted into a splitter so you don't need additional bridging hoses. It should fit into any of the current splitters, but note it fits very snugly into the thicker splitters I designed.

==========
Rev 1 of an inline one way valve for 22mm ventilator tubing. The need is to reduce the risk of cross contamination between multiple patients using a shared ventilator.

The smaller the layer height - the better the seal but obviously the longer it takes to print just one.

Tiny arrows on the joint point in the direction of flow.

This was designed to be optionally used with the ventilator splitter https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/27803-ventilator-circuit-splitters-reinforced-thicker-wa

THIS HAS NOT BEEN TESTED ON A HUMAN

Let's be clear: if you print this and use this on a patient, that is your responsibility. I make no representations as to the safety of this device. It's an experimental model designed to stimulate conversation. The world is running out of equipment, we need to think about alternatives.

Print instructions

Because you want the best possible seal, printing at a higher detail will help considerably. Of course this means longer print times.

1.5 prints in about 2 hours where 1.0 will take 4 hours.

The 3mf file uses edited layer heights to give a finer surface for a better seal but you might want to explore different settings for your system.

100% infill should be used to make the model solid.
