V-Slot Snap Cover

V-Slot Snap Cover

This cover is designed to snap firmly into place over the V-slots of aluminum extrusions, perfectly suited for systems like 2020 and 2040. Aesthetics or concealing wiring that runs through these slots are both excellent reasons for utilizing this design. Given its intricate details, it's highly recommended to print in high detail with a resolution of .1mm. The parts themselves fit together with a nice firm snap when pushed into place. Drawing inspiration from past designs is crucial in achieving success, and I must admit that I drew inspiration from this particular item: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:944921. This design, however, had its flaws as it required the part to slide into place from one end, which made it difficult to keep in place and prone to popping out. An update was added on November 11, 2017: a new file titled "Strain Relief - New" is now available. This new part serves as an essential component at the top of the 2040 system and provides several key features. Not only does it offer a spot to tie wires for strain relief, but it also accommodates a printer's spool holder and mounts a point for an LCD case that I designed: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2067529.
