Project: V-Slot Construction Set Overview/Background V-Slot is a versatile machine construction system, similar in theory to T-Slot extrusion but with the unique benefit of having V-shaped grooves that allow every part of the frame to be used as a rail for linear motion. Objectives This project allows for development of a basic understanding of how V-Slot systems work and opens doors to a world of machine design possibilities. Audiences All ages and experience levels will gain something from using this kit, whether they're complete novices or experienced designers. Subjects/Skills Learned Maths, Design, Technology, Engineering, Construction Lesson/Activity/Assessment Student projects can draw from existing V-slot utilizations, but should be allowed freedom to think outside the box. The project should culminate in a collaborative design and build of a working machine using aluminium V-Slot extrusion. Duration This project can last anywhere from a single session introducing the system to a full-scale design and build.
