Uxbridge Town Pump

The plaque nearby reads: “Uxbridge's piped water supply lasted until around 1800 when the Grand Junction Canal construction severed the old timber pipes. Wells had to be dug in the Town Centre, and this pump stands as the last relic of the second stage of efforts to bring Uxbridge residents reliable water access. The pump has been carefully restored to its original location. Local dignitary Councillor E. Hales unveiled it on December 15th, 1988. Located outside St Margaret’s Church on Windsor Street in Uxbridge, this historic site can be dated post-1800. Restoration and renovation efforts brought the structure up to date in 1988.
