sketchfab
Human: Period/Epoch: Late Cretaceous / Cretaceous\nRock Formation: Lance Formation\nState, County: Undetermined\nTaxonomy: Dinosauria>Ornithischia>Pachycephalosauridae>Pachycephalosaurus wyomingensis\nCretaceous pachycephalosaurs of North America and Asia were a sister group to ceratopsians. They were ornithischian dinosaurs characterized by extremely thick skull domes, the largest part preserved in the fossil record due to their massive size and thickness. Pachycephalosaur growth patterns are unclear due to missing dome fossils from smaller genera. It is generally assumed that these domes grew over an animal's lifespan. Many studies have been conducted on potential purposes of these domes and their targets, revealing many with significant head wounds. This specimen features the top of a head dome.\nScanned using David SLS-2 software
