Period/Epoch: Cretaceous Era Rock Formation: No recorded data available for this specimen. State, County: Location remains unidentified at this time. Taxonomy: Dinosauria>Ornithischia>Pachycephalosauridae Family Pachycephalosauridae is a dinosaur family that primarily inhabited the Late Cretaceous period in modern-day North America and Asia. Pachycephalosaurs were bipedal herbivores, although some evidence suggests they may have been omnivorous in certain instances. Their distinctive trait is a thick, dome-shaped skull area that has been interpreted as a means of competition between individuals. Pachycephalosaurs are closely linked to ceratopsian dinosaurs, both forming the group Marginocephalia. This specimen showcases the thick dome and posterior spikes. Scanned using the David SLS-2 scanning system.
