Period/Era: Cenozoic Era, Eocene Epoch Rock Formation: The Willwood Formation State/County: Wyoming, Bighorn County Classification: Mammalia > Cimolesta > Tillotheriidae > Esthonyx species Esthonyx was a group of tillodonts that went extinct without leaving any modern relatives. These creatures varied greatly in size but could reach bear-like proportions. Their diet consisted mainly of roots and tubers, and they inhabited mostly warm temperate to subtropical environments. The displayed images show some upper teeth from the animal (left P3-M3), which were scanned using the David SLS-2.
