Scotty's UV-C SCBA WORK IN PROGRESS. I did not model the mask. Instead, I modified HackthePandemic to slice off the filter area and allow for a tube connection port instead. The Y adapter was modeled separately (known as a Patient Y in ventilator terminology). More parts are still to come. Disclaimer: DO YOUR RESEARCH ON UV-C! This project aims to develop a Self Contained Breathing Apparatus, UV, equipped with ultra violet C, functioning as a personal respirator that neutralizes microbial threats. The idea is to render microbes inert using UV-C light. I will build two small UV chambers to sterilize incoming and outgoing air, keeping the wearer safe from infection and those around them who could be infected by a carrier. The unit will run on 18650 LiOn batteries, while the UV C bulbs require AC 110v power. A small inverter will step up the voltage. (Yes, a DC-DC BUC up-converter would also work well, but small wattage inverters are affordable.) The business end of the unit will fit around the waist, with the mask piece on the face and interconnecting tubing. I welcome feedback as the project progresses. Precautions will be taken to prevent radiation leakage (preventing sunburns, cataracts, skin cancer etc.). This stuff CAN BE DANGEROUS. Do your research before messing with UV-C. Next parts to model are the UV boxes that will house the bulbs and have air in and out barbs. They will connect to tubes leading from the mask to outside air. Air-tight connections and good mask fitment are critical. Diagrams will be provided soon. Please comment if you'd like to do a parallel development or fork of this project.
