The human body is a complex and intricate system made up of numerous interconnected components that work together to maintain life. The brain, the central nervous system's control center, sends signals to various parts of the body through electrical impulses. These impulses travel along nerve fibers, which are long, thin extensions of specialized cells called neurons. Neurons communicate with each other by releasing chemical messengers called neurotransmitters into synapses, or gaps between adjacent neurons.
