I-clip was created as part of my design ethnography exam. Over two months, I observed and interviewed hackers to better understand their culture and create a personal effect that fits their style. There are three variations: one for the AC cable (large), one for the DC cable (medium) of a standard laptop charger, and one designed with USB cables (small) in mind. I-clip is a scalable and portable cable management system that lets hackers or anyone manage their cables. It doesn't force individuals to clean up messy spaces but encourages cooperation to keep work areas tidy, preventing accidental spills like those from club-mate on laptops. The result is more space for others, transforming the workspace into a giant "circuit board" of cables. Unlike most cable management solutions, I-clip was designed to be portable and meet my assignment requirements. As a personal effect, it's not the most practical solution but gives laptop chargers more personality. Over time, I may add versions and nodes for more complex cable management systems.
