Utility blade Gravity Knife
thingiverse
Why? Because utility knifes weren't already "dangerous" enough. At this stage it's more of a proof of concept then an actual useful design. After seeing the Reate EXO gravity knife (see last picture) online I got the idea to design a 3d printable utility blade holder the uses a similar "locking" mechanism. After printing I used an M3 bolt and nut to put everything together and to my surprise everything fitted and function straight from the printer. **The blade holder part is roughly based on the Talon blade holder but I recreated and modified it for this use-case.** That still needs some work to securely hold the blade depending on print quality. If printed successfully the top part of the grip should be easily moved up with just one hand and after tilting it downwards the blade should fall completely forward just by gravity (at first a light flick might be necessary) then closing the top part it should "lock" the blade forward while the grip is being held firmly in the hand. Please share your opinion and insights in the comments. I plan to take the design further once I get the time. At this point there isn't any detent to prevent it from opening in a pocket and the design is ugly at best.
