The Fletcher-class destroyer was a type of warship that played a significant role during World War II. These ships were commissioned by the United States Navy between 1941 and 1945, and they went on to serve as some of the most effective destroyers in the Allied fleet. Initially designed with a focus on anti-submarine warfare, Fletcher-class destroyers featured four main gun mounts, each housing a five-inch caliber deck gun.
