The USS The Sullivans (DDG-68) is a warship in the United States Navy named after five Sullivan brothers who lost their lives during World War II. These brothers – George, Francis, Joseph, Madison, and Albert Sullivan, aged 20 to 27 at the time of their death – were on board the USS Juneau when it was sunk by a Japanese submarine in November 1942 during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. This tragedy resulted in the greatest loss suffered by any single American family during World War II. In 2000, a group affiliated with Al-Qaeda made an attempt to attack and destroy The Sullivans, but their boat sank before they could carry out the assault.
