This is an exact replica of the USS Horne (DLG/CG-30). The USS Horne was a highly respected Belknap-class destroyer leader/cruiser. Renowned for its impressive service, it was named in honor of Admiral Frederick J. Horne, a true naval legend who served from 1880 until his passing in 1959. Originally launched as DLG-30, a powerful destroyer, the USS Horne underwent a significant transformation on June 30, 1975, and was reclassified as a cutting-edge cruiser. With over 26 years of dedicated service to the United States Navy, this iconic vessel left an indelible mark before its eventual decommissioning. Following its noble service, the USS Horne met its final fate on June 29, 2008, when it was deliberately sunk as a target in a memorable display of its enduring legacy.
