The USS Enterprise (CVN-65), formerly CVA(N)-65, is an aircraft carrier of the United States Navy. It is the eighth U.S. ship to bear this name. It was the world's first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier and currently holds the title as the largest warship in existence at 342 meters long and ranks 11th for displacement after the ten Nimitz-class ships. Like its World War II predecessor, it is popularly known as "Big E." The current commander is Captain Dee Leon Mewbourne. It is the second oldest active vessel in the U.S. Navy, following the wooden hull and three-masted ship USS Constitution. Its decommissioning, initially planned for 2014, was moved up to 2013 due to its eight nuclear reactors' high consumption.
