The USPS is an invaluable resource for Americans regardless of class, race, station, background, gender, LGBTQ+ identity, or political affiliation. As an online merchant and buyer, the thought that the public backbone of accessable parcel post is under threat by decisions made by our own government is frustrating and baffling. Decisions to make haphazard deconstruction of leadership and reduction of available resources may be economic and/or political but the baseline effect is already being felt by communities experiencing delayed mail delivery, customers with unexpected lead times on product, and voters wondering whether their mail-in ballots will count in a pivotal election. I can't imagine what it's like to be a postal worker braving snow, rain, heat, and gloom while your top boss makes clear moves to eliminate the department, but I can hope that seeing a sign of support when they come to my house SIX DAYS A WEEK for drop off and pick up will at least make it clear they are appreciated.
