Usopp proudly holds the unofficial title of third crew member, and the third to join, a distinction he shares with Nami and Robin, who both rejoin at the end of the Post-Enies Lobby Arc. With his slender tan complexion, medium-length black woolly hair, prominent lips, and long nose, Usopp's appearance is an unmistakable allusion to Pinocchio, a wooden boy from a famous tale whose nose stretches with every lie he tells. Usopp inherited his signature nose from his mother, while the rest of his face bears a striking resemblance to his father's features. When the Straw Hats were separated after landing in the Boin Archipelago, Usopp's love for food led him to gain weight, transforming him into an obese teenager.
