Ancient Egyptians bestowed small, mummylike uschebtis figures upon the deceased as burial gifts, tasked with serving as faithful answerers on behalf of the dead. These figurines were summoned to perform menial tasks in the underworld when called upon. Carnuntum ushebtis likely accompanied individuals from Egypt as burial objects or were imported as exotic curiosities, prized for their unique characteristics. Measuring 8.9 cm in height, these ceramic relics date back to the 7th-4th century BC. Model: Landessammlungen Niederösterreich owns the copyright.
