USB Port and Cable Info

This guide addresses two common issues caused by USB cables and offers a simple remedy: - Over time, several USB ports on 3D printers become unusable. - Even when turned off, the USB cord continues to power the printer. These problems are caused by the USB cable sending power directly to your printer's main board. This can be extremely detrimental to the board as it supplies insufficient voltage when the board is not powered on and excessive voltage when it is powered on through the power supply. As a result, you may experience issues such as a malfunctioning USB port, corrupted data on the SD card, or even permanent damage to your main board's components. The remedy for this issue is cheap, simple, and easily reversible. Begin by taking 1mm of tape and positioning it over the VCC pin (indicated by purple tape in the accompanying photo). Next, press the tape firmly into place using a small pair of tweezers or a screwdriver. Insert the USB port into the printer, ensuring that the tape is securely seated. Then, carefully remove the tape from the port and inspect to confirm that it has been correctly positioned. At this point, the power pin should be disabled, resolving the issue at hand.
