USB 5015 Blower Rifle Barrel Chamber Cooler
thingiverse
I needed a reliable 5015 powered USB battery pack that could cool my barrel effectively across various calibers. To achieve this, I modified a 308 case by shortening it and attaching it to a PETG endpiece, which works well for 223, 300blk, 308, 6.5, and 300 winmag cartridges. For sporting rifles with standard frame ejection ports, the setup fits snugly but will accommodate most bolt-action rifles and larger frames without any issues. I purchased four USB 5015 blowers in a pack from Amazon and found them to fit comfortably. To create the blower attachment, I used leftover vinyl tubing with an inner diameter of approximately 3/8" and an outer diameter of 1/2". While more heat-resistant materials would be ideal, I deliberately kept heat-conductive materials away from the chamber. With the fan running continuously, I've not encountered any issues with heat soak during moderate-paced shooting sessions involving 10-20 rounds. However, I wouldn't rely on this setup to prevent melting in case of multiple mag dumps. The blower attachment design was inspired by the CR10 test piece and features through posts and nubs for a screw-less fan grill. Additionally, I created other connectors to ensure a secure fit.
