USB 4" Desk Fan to Pedestal Fan Conversion

This conversion turns a 4" USB Desk Fan into a compact Pedestal Fan, perfect for raising it higher off the desk. It's easy to tilt the fan up/down to direct the air, just like with the original frame. It was designed specifically for fans like the "Daffodil UFN100", which can be found here: https://idaffodil.co.uk/usb-desk-fan-daffodil-ufn100-black.html or on Amazon at http://amzn.eu/de2Quf4. These are different brand names, but they look identical: http://amzn.eu/8MUlU35, http://amzn.eu/aPwnPTU, http://amzn.eu/3pEyPIr, and http://cpc.farnell.com/pro-elec/pel00858/usb-desk-fan-mini-4/dp/HG00868. These fans are everywhere on the Internet and in stores. There are only three parts to print: a base, an arm, and a clamp. You'll need to print two of each, then bolt them together with M3 screws. The picture shows exactly how it goes together. This prints easily on small beds, and individual parts can be replaced if they break. Minimal support is needed for the arms, but everything else prints without. The assembled base in the photos has a 120mm span and seems very stable. If you want a bigger base, I've also uploaded an alternative version "fan_base_150mm.stl" which has a 150mm span when assembled. Update: 13/02/18 - I added an optional "big foot" that's designed to slot onto the ends of the base. This will accept a large nut for extra weight, and suits 24mm diameter by 4mm thick foam/rubber feet like these: http://www.wilko.com/all-hardware/wilko-foam-floor-protector-multi-24pk/invt/0344743. Other hardware you'll need: * 8x8 Aluminium U section or box section (cut to your preferred length) * 4x M3x20 screws for the top clamp * 4x M3x10 screws for the base clamp * 2x M4x20 screws to mount the fan * The two rubber washers off the original fan Adding rubber feet to the end of the four legs will greatly improve stability. The U channel lets you neatly route the cable down the pedestal. You can secure the wire in the channel with velcro ties or cable ties. The U channel was a 1m length from a local DIY store (B&Q probably) and has these dimensions: 8x8mm and 1mm thick aluminium. A SketchUp model is included for easy editing.
