A highly detailed model of the USAF T-43 is available, featuring comprehensive texture sets and all components parented and pivoted for seamless animation. Textures are meticulously designed with major surface textures at 2048x2048 resolution, while Photoshop templates are provided in 4096x4096 format. Color and bump maps are also included for added realism. The T-43 stands out from its civilian counterpart by boasting an enhanced array of antennas and reduced windows. The student training compartment is equipped with cutting-edge avionics gear identical to that found in operational Air Force aircraft, including mapping radar, VOR (VHF omnirange) and TACAN (tactical air navigation) radio systems, inertial navigation system, radar altimeter, and all necessary communication equipment. Five periscopic sextants spaced along the length of the training compartment facilitate celestial navigation training. However, student navigators no longer receive instruction in this skill. The aircraft boasts significantly more advanced training capabilities than its predecessor, the T-29C. Each T-43A training compartment is equipped with two minimum proficiency stations, two maximum proficiency stations, and 12 student stations. Two stations form a console, allowing instructors to move their seats to the consoles and sit beside students for personalized instruction. The spacious cabin provides easy access to seating and storage while minimizing the distance between student stations and instructor positions. Twelve aircraft of the original nineteen remain in service with the Air Force at Randolph Air Force Base in Texas, operated by the 562nd Flying Training Squadron. Two additional aircraft are used by the Air National Guard at Buckley AFB, CO. One has been modified to a transport aircraft, classified as CT-43, and is utilized by US Southern Command for commander transport in South America.
