I've been needing custom labware designs for our OpenTrons pipetting robot, but manufacturer-supplied drawings often lack dimensions crucial for creating the labware in the OpenTrons tool. Rather than fudging it with bespoke measurements, I decided to create a parametric CAD model that would allow me to constrain dimensions according to precise measurements available, then output a drawing annotated with measurements needed for the OpenTrons labware definition. This was my first attempt using 1.1 mL strip tubes purchased from USA Scientific - possibly identical to Axygen products. The model is parametrically designed in Fusion360, which I used to export a drawing with required measurements for an OpenTrons labware definition. It also gave me the chance to learn Fusion360's "drawing" interface. We're also considering VWR's similar product; when we test it out, I'll just enter revised measurements into my parameters definition and get the necessary measurements automatically! Feel free to modify these designs to create your own labware.
