This is a model designed after classic Western locomotives, fully functional and motorized. Initially, I considered adding LEDs to the lantern, but discovered compact bulbs operating on 18-24V, creating an authentic vintage lighting effect. The overall length from the rear cab edge to the cow catcher tip is approximately 330mm. Both ABS and PLA worked well, though ABS performed slightly better when adhering parts together with acetone. I strongly suggest printing the axles in ABS to facilitate easy gluing with acetone. For a precise fit, either lathe the shaft or manually shape it with a drill to create a round edge. The assembled model features small screws securing its components. Review my photos for more information on construction. To connect the side rod, use a 4mm machine screw. Tighten each wheel using a 4mm threaded pin. Be cautious when threading the wheels: reserve a bit of thread at the end to ensure proper locking in place. Without this measure, you may encounter unscrewing issues during operation. Lastly, for the handrails, I opted for 2mm brass tubes. I found bell-shaped caps made of brass in a hobby store that complemented my design.
